Message From Our President

OUR CLUB NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE CHALLENGES OF 2012

First, let me wish all members a very happy and healthy New Year!

As the largest SKAL club in North America, we face the challenge of maintaining that distinction while increasing our numbers.  To achieve this, I ask all current members to renew their memberships for 2012 by paying this year's dues once you receive your invoice and to make every effort to recruit new members throughout the year.

SKAL International and our club have made substantive changes to respond to the needs and of today’s members.  What was once a social association, SKAL is now a forum for executives in the travel and tourism industry to gather, do business together, learn from each other and from experts.

Our club has placed a great emphasis on increasing our members’ knowledge of our unique New York Market and activities around the world which impact our business.  The January meeting is an excellent example of the “big picture” view as guest speaker Anastasia Xenias, PhD Senior International Trade Specialist and Global Travel & Tourism Team Leader, US Department of Commerce, gives valuable insight into building international markets. February’s meeting is New York centric as a panel from Top NYC Attractions discuss what they see for the future of this great City.

Programs like these are aimed at making you, our member, more informed so you can increase your business while becoming a more valuable asset to your company.

I implore you to attend our monthly meetings and bring brochures and business cards for our Networking Table. This is an opportunity for your colleagues to learn more about what you do and how you can work together. Above all, continue to provide our Board with input and ideas on how to make our club more relevant in today’s ever fast changing world.

SKAL

CALL FOR MEMBERS TO ASSIST WITH OUR NEXT ANNUAL GALA

It takes a great deal of assistance to make our Annual Gala a success.  2012 Gala Chairman and Club Vice President, Paul Kastner, is working on an exciting and fun new concept for next year's event.  He needs the assistance of dedicated members who can serve on this committee. Those members who wish to volunteer should email Paul at pfk@interactioncom.com.

HELP FIND SPONSORS FOR OUR MEETINGS

We wish to thank Travel Impressions for their sponsorship of the Argentinean Delegation Cocktail Reception. Travel Impressions recognized the importance of being a sponsor for one of Skal International New York events.  Sponsors receive a number of ongoing benefits and exposure to many of the city's movers and shakers in the Travel and Tourism Industry. We would ask all of our members to suggest other companies, especially those they have a relationship with, to sponsor our club's upcoming meetings, receptions and special events. Contact any member of the club's Executive Committee to assist with this effort.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR ALL EVENTS

You must now register and pay for all Skal meetings and events on PayPal. Only those who have done so or have sent a check prior to an event can attend. Don't know your membership number? Email info@nyskal.com and we'll get it to you asap!
